The Greatest Miracle of All

When Jesus was about to go to the Father, He spoke to His disciples in John 14:23.  He said Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works I do he will also do: and greater works he will do, because I go to the Father. As individuals, we can't really do more than Jesus did as He had the Spirit without measure, we are not more powerful than Jesus. But, as the body of Christ, we have the opportunity reach and help more people than Jesus and His disciples were able to during their time on earth.  Jesus performed many miracles during His three years of ministry. more than could be counted. Many people remember his miracles, but we do not always stop and think about the importance of His teachings.  Jesus came to bring us life, life more abundantly. He came so that we might come to know the Father, that though Him, we might have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Jesus came to reveal God to us.  Most importantly of all He came to bring us salvation, the greatest mira

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover

1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.  Matthew 7:1-5 We’ve all heard the saying don’t judge a book by its cover but what does that really mean?   In a simple way it means that we shouldn’t judge something by the way it looks or seems to be.   It is only natural as human beings to make judgements about things.   We constantly make assumptions about things from what we see, hear and experience.   But what about when we make judgements without looking deeper than surface appearances?   When we first meet someone we

The Battle Zone

This is a sermon that I preached.. We have all heard sayings such as “Life wasn’t meant to be a bed of roses” or “life ain’t easy”. Well, they are true. Life isn’t easy; it is filled with many challenges. (This may shock you, but God says life is meant to be that way) Sometimes as Christians we think that when we get saved and give our lives over to Jesus that life will change and that we will no longer have challenges.   WRONG! It is quite the opposite actually.   (John 16:33 tells us that in the World we will have tribulation.) When we become born again, we change teams – we move from the devil’s team (the defeated side) and into God’s team (where we are guaranteed victory, but not with a fight.) The problem is (not really a problem at all when you know the truth) when we change teams the devil no longer sees us as ‘safe’ or a non-threat.   When we dedicate our lives to Christ, we become his enemy and he sets out to do everything that he can to disarm, disable, and steal ou

I have the Faith of God

God gives to each of us the measure of faith. When we come to Him we have faith. It is up to us to act on that faith and to increase that faith by filling ourselves with the Word and being doers of the Word. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. (Rom 10:17) Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I walk by faith, not by sight. I do not look to those things which are seen for they are temporary. I look to those things that are not seen, for those things that are not seen are eternal.   (Heb 11:1, 2 Cor 5:7,   4:18) When I come to God I must believe that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. I will uphold the shield of faith and resist the fiery darts of the evil one.   For the just shall live by faith.   (Heb 11:1, Eph 6:16. Hab 2:4) When I pray I will believe, and not doubt, that those things I ask for shall come to pass. For if I have faith as a mustard seed nothing will be impossible to me. (Mar 11

God Gives Me Peace

Resting In Him When you feel as though you are overloaded with stress, or filled with fear and doubt remember that there is peace in God, a peace that this world does not know or understand. Take shelter in the peace of God. Remember that Jesus can calm the storms raging in our lives. Speak these scriptures over yourself out loud. Read them in your Bible. Ask God to surround you is His peace. In the world I will have tribulation but in Christ I will have peace for He has overcome the world. I will not let my heart be troubled or afraid for Jesus has given me peace, a peace that is not of this world.   (Jn 14:27, Jn 16:33) The Lord is on my side. I will not fear. I will be anxious for nothing because God’s peace which surpasses all understanding will guard my heart and mind through Christ Jesus.   He comforts me in all of my tribulations.   (Ps 118:6, Phil 4:6a, 4:7, 2 Cor. 1:4) I have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ for He Himself is my peace. He will g

God Gives Us Knowledge Wisdom and Revelation

I'm not really a fan of scripted prayers. They can become monotonous and ineffective if we are not careful.  This prayer, is more like personalized scripture.  I have taken scriptures straight from the Bible and written them in first person so that you can use them in prayer.  Read them in your Bible, meditate on them and ask God to give you a personal revelation of His Word.  I pray that as you read your Bible, that the Word will come alive to you and you will gain a deeper understanding of what God wants to teach you. Dear God, I come to You in faith, believing that You are able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than I could ever think or ask. I pray that I may be filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I may walk worthy of You my Lord, fully pleasing You , being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You; strengthened with all might, according to Your glorious power, for all patien

God Gives Me Guidance and Direction

God is Our Compass G od never leaves us to struggle aimlessly.   His Word is full of guidance and direction. The Bible shows us how to live and teaches us how to follow His plans for our lives. Below are some scripture to meditate on when you are seeking direction. Write them on some note cards and read them throughout your day. The more we focus on the Word, the more we know and understand His will for us. I will be anxious for nothing. I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways I will acknowledge Him and He will direct my paths. (Phil 4:6a, Prov. 3:5-6) I am His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand. He who has begun a good work in me will continue it until the day of Jesus Christ. (Eph 2:10, Phil 1:6) The Lord will guide me continually. His Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. He is the One who goes with me. He will never leave or forsake me   (Isa 58:11, P
