The Sword of The Spirit

Although the Bible was written many years ago it is still relevant and powerful for us today. The Bible is the Word of God.   It is God breathed and God inspired and was written over many years by many different people under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit for the benefit of God’s children.    The following scriptures demonstrate how important the Bible is to us. All scripture is given by inspiration of God that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timmothy 3:16 –17) The Word of God is living and powerful, sharper than a two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.   (Hebrews 4:12) The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. Ephesians chapter 6 teaches us about putting on the armor of God to fight against the whiles of the devil. I have heard many great teachings about putting on the armor of God but most of these teachings miss what I believe is the most valuable tool in our armory.  The sword. At the end of this passage, in verse 17 we read... " 17  And take the helmet of salvation,  and  the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" The helmet, the belt, the breastplate, the shoes and the shield are all defensive tools designed to protect a solider from injury. The  Word of God, our SWORD is the only offensive weapon, the only tool used to engage in battle against the enemy. The Word of God is the Holy Spirit's fighting power. It is our spiritual weapon too. God's Word is the tool we should be using to fight to good fight.
